ELEVEN

“Growing up my family attended the Baptist church. I had faith in God. After I was married, my husband served in the Navy. We had 2 small boys. He worked on a nuclear submarine so he was often out to sea.

In mid-April 1978, I felt overwhelmed. I decided to go into the bathroom where I could lock the door, got down on my knees and poured my heart out in prayer to my Heavenly Father. I knew something was missing in my life. I asked Him to help me know what I needed to do. About two weeks later there was a knock at the door. After opening the door I saw two men dressed in white shirts and ties and name tags. One of them said, “We have a message for you from your Heavenly Father!” I knew then that they were an answer to my prayer. When my husband returned, we set up an appointment to listen to the missionaries message. We were baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 12, 1978. On November 11, 1981 our family was sealed in the Washington, DC temple for time and all eternity!

I am forever grateful for the young men that followed the promptings to knock on my door in answer to my prayer.”
