“I was born into a good family. My parents taught me by example. My senior year of high school my seminary teacher asked everyone to read the Book of Mormon every day. His lessons mostly consisted of discussing what we had read and what insights we had gained. I’d never really had a teacher expect anything of me outside of class. It was my first foray into the scriptures. That method of reading and sharing day after day really helped me understand things.
After high school our stake president challenged all the youth in the stake to read the Book of Mormon. I decided I would be the first one done. I read it cover-to-cover in one week. The change it made in me was incredible: I simply felt happy inside.
Another key moment was working with the missionaries in West Germany. One night they asked me to accompany them on a lesson with a German lady who spoke English. We watched a video called “Our Heavenly Father’s Plan.” I received a witness that night that He really does have a plan for us. All of these things combined gave me a testimony.
As I’ve tried to be good and prove my gratitude I’ve become converted to the Lord. I’m nowhere near perfect but I know I’m a son of God and that He loves to work with imperfect people. Life is good, the church is true and onward we go!”
