FIFTY EIGHT

“I was blessed to be adopted into a gospel centered home. I grew up with the knowledge and attendance in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents are amazing and they helped me learn so much about myself, although I am not their blood they made me who I am today.

As any young member, my personal testimony fed off of my parents and loved ones and I never really put much thought into what I wanted to believe. As I got older I attended 4 years of seminary and served as a young woman’s class president. At this stage in my life I was able to realize that this all felt like it was just a routine. I continued to suffer from constant trials in my personal life and I became overwhelmed with questions. Many of them would draw the spirit away from anyone I talked to about the gospel. I couldn’t help but wonder what I did to deserve these trials.

In May of 2020 my brother, sister and I went to a bike park. After a few times around the park. I flew over my handle bars at a failed attempted of a jump I knew I couldn’t do. Knocking myself out and resulting in a broken eye socket and knocked out 3 teeth. My terrified older brother and younger sister called my parents with the thought I wasn’t breathing. At the hospital my father was able to give me a priesthood blessing before a long procedure. I was in constant surgery for the following year and was very limited due to my PTSD, concussion and weak muscles. My immediate, extended and biological family were all very supportive throughout the entire healing process. Many were shocked by the news I was still alive including myself.

I still have scars and insecurities, trauma and cautiousness, but I know that I was saved for a reason. From this day on I cannot deny God’s plan for each of us individually. I know that the power of the priesthood is God’s power here on earth. Being blessed with a father who is worthy to hold that power has brought me so much peace knowing God’s love for each of his children. Relying on my patriarchal blessing I knew I needed to share that love, peace and assurance during a life changing trial with everyone! I started to teach and share my testimony with friends and loved ones and I was able to see God’s hand in my life. I decided to serve a mission. My testimony is built from trials. I know that we are given trials for our own spiritual growth, and they are given to us because our Heavenly father knows we are capable of overcoming them. Sometimes it might take a few extra steps. Without hardships we may not know joy. There is opposition in all things. I am proud to say I am a member of the church of Jesus christ of latter day Saints.”
