“When I was growing up, my father became a minister in a nondenominational church, so I was raised in a family that always attended church.
When I was in the sixth grade, I met the girl who would later become my wife. We began dating as Seniors in High School and the first time she talked to me about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I felt that I didn’t know if
what she said was true, but I knew that she believed it and I believed in her.
After dating for over a year, we were married by my father in his church. I continued to go to my church and sometimes to her church and mine. After a year, I decided to meet with the missionaries. I did this without telling my wife because I needed to do it for me and not because of her.
While taking the lessons with the missionaries, I felt that what they shared with me was true. My testimony of Jesus Christ was strong, but my knowledge of the doctrine was still small. I didn’t know how much more there was to learn and the blessings I could have as a member of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I now know that we have a living Prophet on the earth who is called of God. I know that families are eternal. I know that the temple is the house of God and an essential part of sealing families together for eternity. I now have a greater understanding of my Savior’s love for me and that He knows me personally and has atoned for my sins. I am grateful for this knowledge that helps me on a daily basis as I embark through the stages of my life.”
